I haven’t posted anything in a while, TV poker has gotten a little watered down as of late. Even ESPN has cut it’s TV coverage of the WSoP down to just a few events. I mean come on how in the hell can you not televise at least the 50k HORSE Tourny. That’s insane. Most of us die hard poker players, just don’t want to see six thousand people in the Main Event. I know I surely would like to see coverage of almost all the events. Se le vie, corporate America even owns poker now, sigh!!!!

Well the lineup is set and there are only 9 players left for this years WSOP Main Event. I’ll be pulling for Ivey to win, why I have to friggin clue.

I am not a fan of this setup, the gap inbetween when it ends and starts back up is 180 days. Any poker player should know, when your running good you don’t want to stop. To me the champion isn’t the true champion in November, because it’s not who would have won in July. Harrah’s please kindly pull your head out of your asses and return the tournament to it’s true form.

Looks like there is 6400 in this years Main Event. Top prize being over 8 million dollars. After the first three day 1’s I wasn’t sure if they were even going to have 4000 players this year. But day 1D brought in over 3400 players. It was so packed that they had to turn people away. I know Patrick Antonius didn’t get in the main event, he was one of those who got turned away on day 1D, what a shame.

Just got home from my trip to Vegas. It was a ton of fun, played a lot of poker. Didn’t do well in my first shot at the WSOP. Tried event 34 the 1500 NLHE, lasted 53 minutes. Busted out with A,J to A,10 of spades, even after hitting two jacks on the flop. Se le vie. Saw lots of celebs and poker pros. Was good stuff, can’t wait to go back.

I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been working on the shirts, which the first design is ready for release finally!!! Also I’ve been playing poker a little bit more, trying to roll up more of a bankroll for my upcoming trip to Vegas. I’ll be there June 14th through June 18th. I’m going to play in the $1500 NLTH World Series event that starts on Tuesday the 16th. At the same time, i’ll be there supporting my team of four, representing our group of 10 that are playing in the 2k buy in event that starts on the 15th. More to come soon, and reports straight from Vegas.

Another semi-good edition of HS Poker aired on GSN. First two hands out of the gate, someone moved Dwan off a hand. Which is not an easy thing to do. This kid is a gambler that’s for sure. It’s like he is the only one brave enough to play an inferior hand, and either it wins or he bluffs someone out of the pot. I didn’t like this kid at first, but the more I watch him play the more I seem to be gaining some respect for him. He is like Daniel and Gus used to be, now they have toned down thier games a lot. One thing is for sure is that if Gus and Daniel are playing different, there must be a reason. Maybe the crazy gung-ho style only is good for so long, then to maintain your roll, you have to play semi-conservatively or you’ll go broke. Just my opinion of the trend I’ve seen lately.

Annie Duke gets hosed out of winning Celebrity Apprentice!! Nice job there Don. Last year when you should have chosen Trace Adkins, you choose Pierce. Now this year, you do the same thing. You pick the second place finisher again. Your my hero!!

You ever wonder what a deer’s eyes would look like in headlights of a speeding car? Well all you have to do is look at what Howard Lederer looked like this past Sunday on High Stakes Poker, and you’ll finally have the answer to your question. Howard got run down by a speeding locamotive named “The Durrr Train.” Dwan three bet a pot against Howard with six, eight offsuit with Howard having Ace,King of diamonds. It was checked all the way down, Dwan caught the eight on the turn and well, Howard was a deer in headlights. I have nothing but respect for Howard, but I’m not sure why he even plays this show, except for maybe TV time. The guy has pp eights, the board comes like seven high and he mucks it to another bet. I don’t know about him, but I’m surely going to fire over the top to find out if my hand is any good at this point, surely not muck the hand. It’s like what are you waiting for? The minute you get a hand now, you’ll make squdusch. Everyone will fold, which they did, when he caught a 5 on a flop to make a set. Howard is worth millions, but plays like he is flat broke, gotta make ya wonder sometimes.

Apprentice was funny again, Joan Rivers and Melissa Rivers making complete asses of themselves, all jealous of Annie and what not. “Poker players are trash”, yeah we sure are, every last one of us. Go Annie, I’m rooting for ya.

This week has been slow with not much to talk about. Last Sunday was pretty boring on High Stakes Poker. Sometimes with the players they have, it’s like penny ante poker. The show needs some more gamblers to spice it up imo. As much as I don’t like Dwan, I have to respect this kids game. Least he gets out there and takes some shots with second rate hands. I understand grinding is a part of these pro’s game plan, but for TV it just doesn’t do to much for me anyway. I want to see shot outs at the OK coral when you hear the name High Stakes Poker!!

About the funniest thing i’ve seen in a while was that Annie Duke was compared to and called Hitler by Joan Rivers. Joan is just mad that Annie has poker player instincts and obviously knows how to play this game. Hell Annie kick ass on that show 1v100 also, so maybe Joan is jealous that Annie is smart or something. But to be called Hilter that was a “WOW” moment for sure.
